My assistant just did a head count. Literally.
1,453 independetly submitted headshots in the month of May. Of those headshots, 534 had cover letters. Of those cover letters, 401 spelled my name correctly. 206 sent me tickets to their showcases. Three of which I have sent my assistant to as research. None have gotten representation from me or ICM.
So why is it everyone believes that acting is so damn easy? These people have to put up with complaint after denial after career suicide. Why is it that nobody believes actors shouldn't get paid as much as they do, when only 99.9% actually make it to the Silver Screen?
I don't like ignoring all these actors, but I have to be picky. I'm the third winningest film representative in the second most prestigious agency in the world. I don't have the time to kiss ass and take names. I have directors to smooch. Producer's shoes to shine. Casting directors egos to tickle and still deal with an influx of phone calls asking me if it's true so and so was cast in such and such's film.
The entertainment industry employs the most people out of any other industry in the world. You look at the Warner Brothers' Studios and you won't see any sign of recession. If you find time to eat lunch in the middle of a work day, let alone fucking breathe, you're doing this job wrong.
And I fucking love it. |
